On an almost completely separate issue, the resolution of the Florida Pension files is 4.0 A lot of old Confederates went there in later life to rest their joints in sunshine. So its always worthwhile to check to see if one of your targerts ended up there. The Pensions are available through the Flordia Department of Archives and History website.
And Jim, good luck on Alabama Pensions. I've been to Alabama DAH and I've yet to figure out the systme, except you have to know the county in which the application was filed. Maybe someone on this board has figured out how to get to Alabama pensions, but not me!
And speaking of Bridgeport, there is a Confederate burial gorund there; prisoners who were captured at Wills Valley/Wauhatchie on 28-29 Oct 63 and were wounded were taken to the Union hospital there. The burial ground for those who died at the Bridgeport hospital, I understand, is underneath the paved playgorund of the Elementary School (or perhaps the Middle School). There is a historical marker, that's all.
