Thank you, I must assume Phocion died while in service, with Co B, 13th Regiment Virginia Cavalry on 15 Aug 1863, possibly from wounds of an earlier battle, not knowing where or when he might have been wounded.

His father, Euclid Borland, M D, came to Petersburg from south of New Orleans December 1863 and moved the body to the family cemetery in Hertford county, NC, so Phocion would be near his mother and sisters.

Euclid had moved from Virginia to Holly Springs, Mississippi area in spring 1837, where Phocion was their first, known, born 9 January 1839. Family moved in 1847 to Plaquemines parish, Louisiana, with 101 slaves in 1860, (one, Rose at 107 y/o), but returned to Virginia & Norh Carolina often. Euclid was very close to his mother's Godwin family in Suffolk, Virginia, and helped raise his older brother's, 1845, orphaned son Thomas R, later U S Attorney for Eastern Virginia under President Harrison.

Euclid's other son, Euclid, Jr, served as did nephew Thomas Roscius and brother Solon Borland, M D, formed the 3rd Regiment Arkansas Cavalry, his sons George and Major Harold both served elsewhere.
