Looking for the souce of a quote describing Gordonsville in 1862 as a "village of hard boiled eggs and chicken bones."

Source may possibly be George Wise in "History of the Seventeenth Virginia Infantry, C. S. A." published Baltimore, MD in 1870.

Can anybody confirm with a page number.
