Well, since no-one else will pick this up I'll give it a whirl. I've not seen the "Memoirs" volumes, but have read samples courtesy of "Look inside this book" and maybe Google Books. They seem fine, but are personal accounts and don't necessarily provide a comprehensive overview.

The author, or rather compiler and editor, is Robert J. Trout, who has written numerous books about Stuart's cavalry, is very well placed to compile and offer these "Memoirs."

However, if you are looking for an overview of the horse artillery, I'd recommend Trout's 2002 book "Galloping Thunder: The Stuart Horse Artillery Battalion." I bought an excellent, used, copy a few years ago, and I don't regret it.
