Frederick Mierke

There is a Frederick Mierke who served in Company E of the 41st Virginia Infantry. One page exists in his service record, which at the bottom states that this company transferred to Captain Thomas Kevill's Artillery.

I'm having a difficult time proving that this is the same Frederick Mierke who was born about 1825 in Germany and died in Sandusky, Ohio in 1916, as is claimed by a descendant.

I can only find the man above in Ohio. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is part of what is claimed:

"Frederick Mierke came to America from Mecklenburg, Germany in 1850, landing in New York City. He brought his wife Christina (Gross) Mierke to America in 1851 and they moved to Norfolk, Virginia, abt. 1854.
"He served in the 41st VA. infantry Regiment, Co. E. during the Civil War and was captured at the Battle of Crompton's Gap prior to the Battle of Antietam in 1862. After the war he joined his brother Henry Mierke and moved to a farm near the German community of Fremont Ohio, in the Sandusky Valley."

Thank you,

D.W.
