Im looking for correct unit for my great grandfather's oldest brother...John William Wade. He was from Richmond Virginia area...in 1860 census but by 1870 he is in Missouri. There were three listings of a prtson by this name in Confederate service. One was for a Missouri unit which has now been ruled out. The other two are Virginia units...5th VA Infantry and 29tho
VA Ba. Can anyone tell me more about these units so I can verify id? I just found his death certificate and cause of death was related to wound received in Civil War. His name is not listed in Appamattox Rolls w either VA unit....if wounded discharged out prior? Any help or suggestions welcome
