In Response To: Re: Wise's Artillery ()

Did you get my e-mail response to your reply to my earlier e-mail? That outlined what I was looking for with the 4th Alabama.

As for the Artillery, I could really use your help in identifying the source documents for the following from your account:
- On April 30th the company was still stationed at Martinsburg.
- By June 2nd company was stationed at Hainesville, Va.
- On the same day the company and Co. D, 2nd Virginia Inf. were ordered to Martinsburg.
- On June 8 Co. D (and presumably the battery) were ordered to Harper's Ferry.
- Unclear if Company B was at Harper's Ferry when the evacuation began on June 15.
- The company arrived at 3 o'clock that afternoon [on 15th] and camped at Camp Johnston, near Bull Skin Run.
- The battery was divided into two sections;.....
- On June 16 the company received orders to move at 9 a.m. to Bunker Hill where it arrived that evening and camped on Mill Creek.

I saw your comment concerning how long you have been studying the battle. My great grandfather was in Company E, 7th Georgia and was there that day. I have walked the battlefield any number of times, lately with Jim Burgess of the NPS. Jim has been a friend of my for around 20 years and helped me on the paper I wrote concerning the 7th at the battle. There are a number of facts that the history books and many renown historians have incorrect concerning the 7th. I have detailed accounts of the battle by several of the participants in both the 7th and 8th Georgia.

I hope you will be able to help me with the above and the 4th Alabama.

Thank you.

Respectfully,
Henry
