I would like to know what type of uniforms the 1st Virginia Cavalry wore at 1st Bull Run, and were all companies present. Initially, the only info I could find including the 1st Virginia Cavalry re enactment website, was that they wore gray coats with black collar, cuffs and bars across the chest. I then found that Co G Amelia Light Dragoons and Co H Loudon Light Horse, wore the 1858 pattern state uniform at Bull Run which consisted of blue coat and trousers trimmed in yellow and black hardy hat. Also, Co B Berkely Troop wore gray coats with yellow trim on the collar and yellow bars across the chest. I have not been able to find any uniform information on the other companies. I'm not sure if the remaining companies or company wore the black trimmed uniform. If anyone has any uniform info for the 1st or has any suggestions where I might find information, I would appreciated it very much.
