Edward Moreland is reported as serving in Company A, 35th Battalion Virginia Cavalry as is his brother William.

The information on his service was taken from one of the Virginia Regimental Histories Books, likely that titled 35th Battalion Virginia Cavalry by John E. Divine. No service data is found in the National Archives Compiled Service Records (CSRs) as recorded by Fold3.

There are only two Company A muster rolls in these CSRs, those being for the periods March & April, 1864 and May 1 to August 31, 1864. As such, Edward would have served before this period or enlisted later. If the former, then he would have been dropped from the rolls, for some reason earlier. Most likely he was a Conscript, enlisting late in 1864.
