Brightwell, Artificer, Company I, 1st Regiment Engineer Troops, conscripted and enrolled February 20, 1864 at Camp Lee, Va., assigned to 1st Regiment Engineer Troops March 29, admitted Jackson Hospital, Richmond, Va. April 11, 1864, Lumbago, returned to duty April 19, sent to hospital at Orange C. H. April 23 remaining absent through October, 1864,* captured and paroled April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Va., no further records

* October 31, 1864 is the last Company muster roll in the records. Hence, we are not aware of his subsequent service
