Enlisting at this late stage of the Civil War, I would suspect that he was a Conscript having just recently celebrated his 17th birthday.

Also in Company H were the following Vicks who’d I would assume were kin:

Anthony W. Vick
Benjamin Vick
James E. Vick
John B. Vick
John T. Vick
Samuel Vick
William H. Vick

……….

Elias Vick, Private, Company H, 41st Regiment Virginia Infantry, enlisted September 9, 1864 at Petersburg by Capt. G. S. Beaton for the war, paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865

M324: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Virginia

………..

He filed for a Confederate pension from Portsmouth, Virginia, April 1905, listing his age as 60. Difficult to read on-line, 3 pages
