Thanks, George. I have that book. I am working on a book about the Confederate Nitre & Mining Bureau District 4 1/2, and according to Jones' report, several of the nitre workers were killed, wounded, or taken prisoner. I have identified a few of the men who were taken prisoner, but cannot determine who was wounded and killed.
Interestingly, Jones and several others are mentioned as being under guard at Staunton on June 8, 1864, but they were not sent to Camp Chase like many of the other prisoners. They must have been paroled and allowed to return to work. Some "catch & release" program?
