His regiment could not be identified and his record is found in the Miscellaneous file. It is rather disjointed consisting of 25 cards.

Henry Mahaney, Private, Company A, Enlisted April 1, 1861 at Clarksburg, Pa., fought in Jackson’s Brigade, purchaser and butcher for Gen’l Lee, paroled at Appomattox.

Paid March 1862 at New Market for services as Shipping Agent for vouchers in Sept & Oct, 1863 at Crab Bottom & Salem, Va. and for fresh beef, Private, Co. A of a[?] Regt. design. 22 Va Inf 21 Va Inf, 21 Va Cav 20 Reg. Va., captured in Pocahontas Co. Va. Nov. 3, 1863 and imprisoned at Camp Chase, Ohio and Ft. Del., Del, being paroled at the latter place Sept. 28, 1864, and delivered at Varina, Va. Oct. 5, 1864 to the Confederate Agent for exchange, his regiment has not been identified

paid March 17, 1862 $5 for stationary at Fort Jackson, Sept. 29, 1863, receipted for provisions for the 38th Battn. Va. Cavalry at Salem, Va, purchased Wagon gear at Stribling Springs Nov. 16, 1862

His age is stated as 47 years, 5’ 11”,dark hair, grey eyes, dark complexion, resident of Highland Co. Va., Occup. Farmer

His record contains a note from the War Department dated April 10, 1931, addressed to Mr. W. L. Mahaney, 3rd, Phil. Pa.

March 4, 1864, exchanged September 30, 1864, 47 year old Farmer, 5’ 10-3/4”, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, resident of Highland, Va.
