Hell,

The standard for loading and firing for Frederick the Great's Prussian infantry in the 1700s was five rounds per minute. They could reach those levels by skipping three steps of the loading drill with their flintlocks thanks to the curved base of the barrels which allowed powder poured down the muzzle to slide in to the pan on its own.

I can barely get more than three rounds with my Springfield.
