Finding a photo of a private soldier like your Benjamin can best be charactrized as looking for a needle in a haystack.

They are extremely rare.

Alex Wiatt notes: "By August 1862, measles, mumps, maleria, and typhoid had reduced the 1500 men to 250 fit for duty."

Also, he lists of 138 me who died of disease, only 3 were due to Smallpox, the biggest contributor being Dysentery/Diarrhea - 25, followed by 19 to Thypoid Fever, and 15 to Pneumonia. This compares to 62 killed in action and 23 mortally wounded.
