Yeah,that is the same thing I ran into. I was able to find a service card for EW Furguson of the 23rd. But that would be it other than the fact he is on the plaque and is listed in the regimental series books on Va. Inf. I know he was buried at the UVA Confed. Cem. in Charlottesville. In the Regimental series he is listed as EW Furgerson. form Mercer Co.
