For Elmira/Woodlawn I show a W.S.Tune (died Sept 3rd 1864) of Youngs Virginia Artillery, which was also officially known as 1st Battalion Va Light Artillery Company-C. (Hardaway Battalion). Earlier local designation also of "Halifax Light Artillery"
This respective company spent much of the first year of the war serving as Infantry as Co.G (Mount Vernon Guards) of the 14th Va Infantry till transfered May 1st 1862 into the 1st Regt Va Artillery, which later was redesignated as a Battalion instead... clear as mud?...lol... I found nothing thereof related to the 1st Va Cav.
I also found the following serving in the same series of units together,
These all enlisted April 24th 1861 at "News Ferry" Va (Western side of Halifax Co Va)
- Charles W Tune
- Elias K Tune
- Joseph S Tune
- William L Tune
Side note; W.S.Tune isnt shown with these others in the earlier duty in the 14th Va, so he must have enlisted after they were transfered in May 62.
I also found a W.K.Tune of the 53rd Virginia Infantry Co.F. died at Point Lookout Md
Respects
Frederick
