The only William Taylor of the 36th Texas Cavalry was Corporal William A. Taylor, age 36 who
enrolled in Co. G on April 20, 1862 at Clinton, he was last recorded as Deserted on the Regimental
Return dated March 22, 1865 at Pittsville, Texas.

The only Texan Cavalry Colonel was William A. Taylor of Waco, Texas, 24th Texas Cavalry, captured
at Franklin, Tennessee November 11, 1864, POW at Johnson's Island till taking the Oath, June 1, 1865.
