In case you haven't seen his service file, he enlisted as Jeremaiah L. Washam, in Co. D, 6th Texas Cavalry (Stone's Regiment, 2nd Texas Cavalry) September 10, 1861, at Dallas, he was 29 years old. He was paid $125 valuation for his horse, and $20 for equipment consisting of a D. B. Gun and B. Knife. He spent almost his whole time in service sick, either in quarters or at the Texas General Hospital, Quitman, Mississippi.
The regiment surrendered at Citronella, Ala on May 4, 1865 and he was paroled at Jackson, Mississippi on May 13, 1865.
