johnny, i have my g-grandads muster in papers and his discharge papers and the dates i see say enlisted mar. 1862 discharged july 1863. he even wrote on the bottom of the page about how much money they paid him when discharged, he wrote $29.40 was paid to me by capt. peavey, or something to that effect. the man died in 1887.my grandad barely remembered him as he was only 9 when a.j. died. then to see the man's handwriting one=hundred and forty four years later was a really neat deal for me! i only wish i could get a picture of him, that would be really cool!my dad still has a sister living. she is 94 and lives in amarillo texas but has no memory. too bad! i want to thank you for all your help, and if you ever get to ft. worth give me a call, i just love civil war period and like to visit about it with people that also enjoy that grand time! 817-680-3531 your truly, phil morrow
