J.W. Pierce & J.T. Burnett, Clariette, Erath Count

Scott McDonald,
.
I think the 25 men in this photo taken ca. 1896 on the Erath County Courthouse steps were both Union and Confederate veterans from everywhere who lived in the Erath County area.

Query from Scott:
I have couple of questions regarding this photo.
.
Do you know if these men served only Texas units or is it a group made up of any CSA veteran?
.
The reason I ask is because I had 2 Civil War Veteran ancestors living in Erath County at the time this photo was taken. However, both of these men served in different units from Mississippi.
.
They were:

John T. Burnett of Clairette (1843-1916)
and
James W. Pierce (1841-1910)
.
Ever run across these names?
.
Thanks, ..Scott McDonald
