Bobby,

Thanks for looking. I actually found the Buffalo Station I was looking for a couple of days ago by going to Google books and searching on Buffalo Station, Oklahoma. Buffalo Station was located on the west side of Buffalo Creek Crossing in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma in the Indian Territory on one of the Butterfield trails. This area later became known as Pulcher which no longer exists. Buffalo Station served as a stop for the Butterfield stage line in the late 1850's through about 1861. It did not operate after 1861. It was not a regular stop but was used for changing horses. It doesn't appear there was ever much there except a log cabin so the mention of a hospital is strange unless it was set up by the military as a temporary hospital during the Indian territory campaigns.

There are a few graves in the area that are listed as Civil War graves (mostly unmarked) so one of them is possibly my ancestor.
