I've been seeking genealogical information on an ancestor who might heve been in the 33rd TX Cavalry. His service record contains only a single document stating that he was in Co. H, appearing on a Regimental Return for August, 1864.

I understand, from reading the bottom of the document that Cos. H and I were transferred to Benavides" Regiment, and that a new Co. H and I were formed.

One or more of the companies were formed in Mt. Vernon. This would have been the proper location, but I've been unable to find which companies were from this area.
