Alf Johnson, Rochette's Book

Karla Johnson,
.
Since the soldier's records are so expensive and you haven't nailed down exactly where your Henry Johnson, John Franklin "Jack" Johnson, and Albert/Alfred Johnson were during the Civil War era, I'd wait until you have better data.
.
If I were you, I'd research all of the families that connect to these Johnsons first.
.
I document my findings by:
.
1) type into your annotated bibliography first, include every bit of relevant data on that record.
.
2) compile a family sheet
.
3) compile a timeline.
.
4) Of course, begin with the 1930 cen, 1920 cen, 1910 cen, etc.
.
I habitually list the neighbors on each census, then sometimes I research the neighbors (at least three on either side) if they seem to come from the same place.
.
Some of us spend more time, energy, and money on research than sane people respect. My friend realized that the creeks in a Virgiria county had changed names from the 1600s to the 1700s, so he collected all of the handwritten deeds and redrew that section of the county. Lazy people do not do extensive research.
.
Upon request, I will gladly send you a sample of my family sheets with timeline plus the accompanying annotated bibliography.
.
