Soldiers of the 8th Texas Inf. were indeed captured at Aransas Pass Texas during the Civil War. Around 100 persons were Captured I think around November 1863 and more than likely others afterward and also further up the coast.The 100 or so person were part of an Artillery Unit formed in Corpus Christi, Tx. and segments of two companies of Texas State Troops that were called out to resist the Yankee Invasion of the Texas Coast in the winter of 1863.The place where these men were captured was also called Fort Semmes.
