Re: 11 Texas Infantry

My great Grandfather, James H Gresham (Grisham) enlisted in the 11th Texas Infantry Co B Feb 26, 1862 at Henderson, Rusk Co., Texas. As I understand from his service record, he was at Camp Hebert Near Hempstead Texas In 1862 and was detailed as a teamster and a Blacksmith 1st July 1863 and was Paid 25c a day. Near Pine Bluff Ark March and April 1863. He was in La. & sick July & Aug 1863. In the Battle at Mansfield La. He was sick and in Hospital at Rusk Texas March & April 1865 at the end of the war. His brother William L. Gresham was in the 12th Texas Infantry also at Camp Hebert in 1861-1862. William was Killed in La. June 23, 1863. I have a copy of a letter he wrote to his mother in Rusk Co., while at Camp Hebert. Their younger Brother, Robert E. Gresham enlisted in the 18th Texas Infantry and was also in the La.and Ark Campaigns. Both James H. Gresham and Robert E. Gresham survived the War and came back to their home in Rusk Co., Texas. They later moved to Nacogdoches Co., and both died there. Both recieved Confederate Pensions.
