Re: Prison Canyon, Camp Verde, Texas

My Great, Great Grand Father (Philip Wuertenberg) died near Camp Verde Texas as a POW. I take it that near means Prison Canyon. I have yet to find where the graves would have been placed for the POWs that died at this POW camp. A couple of questions someone may be able to answer on this message board:

1. Is there a graveyard for the POWs that died at Prison Canyon or Camp Verde?

2. If not, how many POWs died in Prison Canyon and at Camp Verde (I have read that 600 Union prisoners were taken at Camp Verde)? Due to the conditions at Prison Canyon, I believe many of the 600 prisoners died there.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
