He is buried in Princeton, Arkansas alongside other confederate soldiers. Many of the soldiers in this cemetery died from wounds suffered at the battle of Jenkins Ferry, which is near Leola, Arkansas. Captain Thomas B Smith, Company I, 11th Texas Infantry has his own tombstone. The citation says he died of pneumonia.
