9th Texas Cavalry Mtd. Riflemen

I am trying to find information regarding my great great grandfather John F. Williams. His Muster Roll Index Card says that he was in the 9th Texas Cavalry Mtd. Riflemen, Lamar County, under Col. W. B. Sims having enlisted in Aug. of 1861. It appears that he was transferred to the CSA in 1861 and stated at Camp Reeves, Grayson City, TX. This relative later married Susan Price in Lamar County in 1866. My mother had told me that one of her relatives had ridden with some of Quantrill's Raiders but I have never been able to nail this down. I have been wondering though if this relative had anything to do with the Gainesville Hanging in 1862. Does anyone know where I may be able to find anything more out about this?
