From what part of Texas were the companies that made up the Confederate 4th Texas Cavalry ? Southeast maybe ? I'd appreciate any help. I've been reading a slave narrative of a man named James Cape. He sounds as though he served as a regular soldier, (not unlike Holt Collier), along with his master Robert Houston, who he refers to as "Marse Bob". The only men I located by this name was one in the 4th Cavalry, and one in the 9th. James says in the beginning of his narrative he was from s.e. Texas.
