Re: Benjamin F. Thompson, Cooke Co. Texas

Many thanks, George and Mike! I have the information from the card that you posted, Mike, copied from the Texas State Archives. George, I have never seen the information you posted! Interesting that he was discharged due to disability in 1863. Perhaps he was better when recalled in '64? I have his census records...he was on the 1850 census in Clay County, Missouri, along with his brothers (Robert W. Thompson was my g-g-grandfather and B.F.'s brother). They moved across the line into Kansas and are on an 1855 territorial census there, then moved to Cooke County, Texas in 1859. They and their parents, William Thompson and wife are all on that 1860 Cooke County census, but B.F. disappears before the 1870 census. His wife remarried a man named Lee. And that was the end of B.F. Thompson! Perhaps he died after the War...possibly because of whatever that disability was! Nevertheless, I sure appreciate the info on his initial enlistment, especially the Fort McCulloch part! Again, thank you both!
