Thanks to the information about the Arkadelphia powder mill, I have discovered a little more that might be of interest. There is a Texas Historical Marker in Marshall, Texas for the Marshall Powder Mill. Per this marker, because of the precarious situation in Arkansas, the Arkadelphia mill was moved to Marshall at the end of August 1963 and was in full operation sometime between March and August 1864. After the surrender, Federal forces began dismantling the powder mill, arsenal, magazine, etc., and an explosion occurred killing three soldiers and wounding two others.
