George,

I found the following post in the IT board from 2011. What can you find for William C. Womac?? My friend's name is William C. Womack, and he is now 75, and now thinks that he had no relative in the fight, as the Womack's relatives given previously didn't fit his family tree! I still have some hope that he does have at least one.

William C. Womac (sic, Womack) served in Co. H, 15th (Northwest) Arkansas Infantry Regiment, CSA. He was a resident of Washington Co., AR. He enrolled 2 Nov 1861 at Fayetteville, AR. Age 24. Absent 30 Apr 1862, wounded accidently. Dropped as a deserter 30 Jun 1862. He served as a Pvt. in 2nd Co. B., 1st Cherokee Mounted Volunteers, CSA. He enlisted 12 Jul 1862 at Ft. Davis in Indian Territory by Capt. J. W. Wells. Pvt. W. C. Womac was on a company muster roll from 30 Nov 1862 to 30 Jun 1863. The Womack men have been in the militia since 1758 in VA. William C. Womack's father, William Womack lost his life Jun 1836 on the Sabine River in TX while serving in the militia. The elder William Womack's father, Pvt. Jesse Womack served in the Revolutionary War under his father, then Capt. Jacob Womack in the Aug 1776 Cherokee Expedition. Jacob Womack was promoted to 2nd Maj. later that year.
