Texas Rangers

My Uncle Cyrus Broome of the San Angelo, Texas, area was a Texas Ranger in, perhaps, the 1870 - 1880. He was born and reared in the Utica, Hinds County, Mississippi, area.
Was in the Crystal Springs Southern Rights Company of the Republic of Missisisppi,
(The Confederacy did not exist when Mississippi secedded and we Became the Republic of Mississippi.) Became a Company and a part of the 16th Regiment Mississippi Volunteers, went to Virginia and spent the Civil War, migrated to San Angelo soon after the War,
He served as a Texas Ranger, a Deputy United States Marshall and Sheriff of Crockett (I think) County. As a Texas Ranger he Met Court two times a year, Summer in El Paso and Winter in Brownsville, or vice versa. Interesting. Sam P
