Report of Col. John W. Horn, Sixth Maryland Infantry

May 9, 1864 - “ . . . about 1 p. m General Sedgwick was killed by a sharpshooter near the right of my regiment.”
OR V36 Pt. 1, p. 737

The 6th Maryland was in Col Benjamin F. Smith’s 2nd Brigade, Rickett’s 3rd Division, Sedgwick’s Corps.

This position is about the same distance from Gregg’s brigade with the 1st Texas as Kershaw's Brigade, Col John W. Henagan commanding, in which the 15th South Carolina was attached. See:
