And, what exactly is a court martial. Where there levels of severity? Punishment? From what I am reading it seems punishment and/or arrests were up to the individual commanding officers. Some of the punishments were death after being shamed; another was walking up and the streets (Galveston) wearing a "barrel shirt". thanks
