Ken -

There is a long account that questions if Mr Scott even served in the Civil War, including testimony from his brothers that his headstone age is different from the family bible, and claims from others that Mr Scott offered to pay for fraudulent affidavits to support his pension claims.

If you are related to Mr Scott and would like to see these documents pm me direct as they are probably not appropriate for a public forum.

I am acquainted with some of his descendants who sponsored the Texas Historic Cemetery designation and medallion for the Beeman Cemetery about 10 years ago which prompted my research. BTW his wife and children are believed to be buried near him in unmarked graves.
