Thank you for the information Ms. Walker. It makes good sense. I recall a few years ago a researcher was trying to find soldiers from the 27th Texas Cavalry who died at Iuka (kia or disease) and were buried in that vicinity. I know that many Confederate soldiers were buried in mass graves during the War.
There were Union soldiers killed at Iuka. Were any of them buried in mass graves? It is hard for me to imagine burying comrades in a mass grave, but I was not there. I never trusted Yankees.
