To answer your question, After the war many of those buried in the South Union were located and reburied at a national battlefield site. You have people who died at Arkansas Post for example that might have ended up in Vicksburg National. There were so many in the east you have Yankees buried everywhere. My g g grand father killed at South Mountain in '62 was dug up and laid to rest in Richmond even though he was from Georgia. They went over the country to find the dead, which side and laid them to rest in their place were they could get respect. The North sorta bend over to do this to keep the South and claim. We are the only people on the planet that have been forced to live in a land our people chose not to be apart of and seem not to mind the bayonet. I noticed it every time we hold an election of President and we who vote one way don't have someone we want, because the north votes for someone else and have the population and the electoral college.
