While searching for something else totally unrelated, I ran across the following item in the July 18, 1872 Jasper News-Boy (Jasper, Tex.) newspaper:
List of soldiers removed from Gettysburg battlefield to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond Va on June 20, 1872.
Sgt. J. W. Williams, Co A, 4th Rgt.
Sgt. Peter Williamson, Co D, 5th Rgt.
Wm. Stevens, Co E, 5th Rgt.
J. H. Watson, Co E, 5th Rgt.
J. C. Graham, Company F, 4th Rgt.
Was this a common practice? Were the bodies of other regiments who fought at Gettysburg relocated?
