To all who are interested - on Saturday March 28, 2015 @ 10AM and at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, TX the Felix H. Robertson Camp # 129 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will be conducting a commissioning ceremony for an honorary rank of Brigadier
General on behalf of Col. J.W. Speight. Col. Speight had been nominated by his commanding general E. Kirby Smith in December, 1863 for the rank of Brigadier General. However, due to illness and several unhealed wounds, Col. Speight had to return to Waco and could not resume his command and retired in April, 1864, and before his nomination had become effective.
