Wow, talk about going back in time. Well, Uncle Joe, my ancestor was Charles Tidwell, a Private in Company F of the 5th Texas Mounted volunteers. He was shot in the head by one of Kit Carson's New Mexico militia men. Charles was buried on the battlefield at Val Verde and is there still.
