The behind-the-scenes information regarding the records at the National Archives is fascinating and, in my opinion, a book worthy enterprise.

It is unfortunate to read of the newer restrictions regarding viewing such records.

Years ago, I was fortunate enought to visit the Archives a few times, and I wasted much valuable time stumbling through the system and Government style processes just to get to the information I was seeking.

With the changes at the Archives that you touched on, it would be a great service to Civil War researchers to have a step by step guide to accessing the records. A guide not encumbered with all the Government style lingo would be a decided bonus.
