In 1861 this Texas unit went to Memphis and became comp[any D under General Forrest in the Army of Tennessee.
One of the officers wrote a letter back to Clarkesville, Texas telling they had been picked up by Forrest's command and stated they had been furnished swords.

My question is; would the swords have been issued only to the officers?
or since this is a cavalry unit, to each of the men including privates?
