from what I heard the following happened.
When Longstreet was in Tenn. in 63/64 some people enlisted and a company of Tenn. people found themselves in Hood's Texas Brig.

When the 6th Texas was exchanged, they were posted with a Tenn unit until their officers could make the trip across the country. The officers were exchanged on the east coast while the enlisted were exchanged at Vicksburg.

Just another case of the damnyankeed (sic) being a damnyankee.
