Re: Daly's-Davidson's-Ragsdale's Battn

James [M] Jeans, Private, Company A, Ragsdale’s Battalion Texas Cavalry, granted 25 days furlough November 8, 1864, among troops surrendered by Gen. E. K. Smith May 26, 1865 and paroled July 10, 1865, no other records

Ragsdale’s Battalion Texas Cavalry was organized in October 1862 and was known at various times as the 4th Battalion Arizona Brigade, the 2nd Battalion Arizona Brigade, and 1st Battalion Arizona Brigade, Davidson’s Battalion Texas Cavalry and Daly’s Battalion Texas Cavalry

Note: Given that the last surviving Company A muster roll was that for the period January/February, 1864, it seems likely that James enlisted sometime after this date. Most likely a 17 year old conscript.
