In Response To: Thomas Jefferson Burnes ()

T J. Burns, age 19, Private, Captain E. A. Brown’s Company, Hubbard’s Regiment Texas Infantry,* enlisted May 10, 1862 at Mt. Pleasant by J. L. Barr for 3 years or the war, receipted for $50 bounty September 19, 1862, no further records

Note, there are no further company muster rolls in the files until that of the bi-monthly period Jan/Feb, 1864. As he does not appear at this muster, he must have been dropped from the rolls in the intervening period, this could have been for discharge, death, capture, desertion, transfer, etc. We have no way of knowing from these records

Also in Company A was John Burns, age 21, 4th Sergeant, who was last recorded present Jan/Feb, 1864

* This company was known at various times as Captain Bolin’s Company and Company E, Hubbard’s Battalion Texas Infantry; Captain Brown’s Company, Hubbard’s Regiment Texas Infantry; Captain Brown’s Company Texas Volunteer Infantry; and Company A, 22nd Regiment Texas Infantry

M323: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Texas

I searched for a possible Texas Confederate pension, did not find one in his name or for a widow
