Re: Arkansas Post Battle,Jan. 1863

William Foster, Private, Company F, 14th Texas Cavalry (Dismounted), enlisted March 12, 1862 at Montague, Texas, by L. Purdy for 12 months, captured at Stones River (Murfreesboro) December 31, 1862, patient in Small Pox hospital, Camp Douglas, Ill. March 31, 1863, recorded April 20, 1863 as missing since the battle of Murfreesboro, December 31, 1862, paroled and sent from Camp Douglas to City Point, Va. May 15, arriving May 21, 1863, recorded present at the May/June, 1863 muster and paid June 30, last recorded present at the September/October, 1863 muster, paid September 21, 1863 for the two months July/August, 1863, no further reccords

Two other cards in his file record his having been captured in New Mexico April 10, 1862 and at Arkansas Post Jan 11, 1863. I believe these to be clerical errors. Your William was a prisoner at Camp Douglas, Ill. on January 11. I have no idea of the New Mexico connection.
