150th Pleasant Hill, La.

For those who don't know; every Ap. at Pleasant Hill, La. is a CW re-enactment. This years 150th took place with little fan fare and few came to take part. Walker's Texas Division was there and a number did not leave after they got there. The re-enactment of Mansfield, La., close to the actual 150th date will take place soon. Both are part of the Red River Camp. of 1864. Banks for the N. and R. Taylor for the South. Come, you might see something or learn something from those who try to live the past. We can't relive it, but we try to capture the spirit of those years and how life was in that war.

Yes, it is true that many have tents which few had in the war. And yes, it is true that some carry their cell phone with them, even into battle. The hobby has changed, like the people of this country has changed, and I can't say it is for the best. But for some of us it is worth the time and trouble we take to do it. Come and enjoy.
