Your letter is so typical of the letters from Sheveport that late summer. The letter starts with Sheveport and the date at the top and never giving a camp name, but as the Texas units move north into south Arkansas you see them listing the camps by name. These Texas units stayed longer at Sheveport than was planned, by the time they reached Sheveport from Tyler, Marshall and other areas of east Texas. They realized that a lot of their horses and equipment mainly wagons weren't road worthy. The blacksmiths and farriers were kept busy putting shoes on the horses and repairing wagons and other equipment before they could move on to Arkansas.
When they first arrived at Sheveport they camped all around town and some mainly officers stayed in nice homes and Hotels rather than the wet low ground. But as the men spent more time in town they started getting into trouble, drinking, fighting and a few other problems arose. It was decided to keep the soldiers further outside of Sheveport. One big camp was 7 miles north of Sheveport and I've not seen it mentioned by name. The procession of Texas units from Texas to Arkansas was like a long snake, as one regtiment moved from their camp a regtiment behind them moved into their old camps or a camp very near. Once these Texas units that had passed through Sheveport got into Arkansas, they spread out, some units took the Camden to Little Rock Road and others took the Lewisville, Arkadelphia to Little Rock Road.
